Looking for something to do this summer? Wanting to up your reading game? Love books and witches and yarn? Want to win some prizes and a pizza? Then have we got an adventure for you! Introducing the first ever Stitch & Witch Summer Reading Challenge! This is an opportunity for you to delve back into your childhood and relive the days of stickers, books, prizes, and maybe even a pizza!

Through the months of June through September, you have the opportunity to increase your books read and win some prizes. What do you have to do? Simple, follow the rules below and you will be on your way to a fantastic summer! You might meet some new friends, learn some new things, win some great prizes, and, oh yeah, get some really fantastic yarn!

The rules:

Subscribe to the Stitch & Witch Book Club by June 15th and remain subscribed for the months of June, July, August, and September. You have a choice of eight different bases to choose from: Magic, Alchemy, Glamour, Incantation, Charmed, Enchantment, Divination, and for the first time Sorcery, our DK weight Merino/Cashmere/Nylon yarn.

That’s it. That is really the only rule. That gets you entered into the drawing for the Grand Prize Package. But wait! There’s more! You can earn extra entries into the drawing by doing the following:

Attend Book Club (we meet on the third Thursday of every month on Zoom). You get an entry for every attendance. (up to four extra entries)
Show off your yarn (and books) and tag us on social media. (One extra entry per month shown off)
Get a friend to join the reading challenge as well. (Up to ten entries)

Everyone who enters will receive a bookmark with their first order. Everyone who completes the challenge (stays subscribed through September 15th) will receive a goodie bag filled with fun things for you to enjoy. The Grand Prize drawing will be Thursday, September 21st at the end of the book club meeting. Winner does not need to be in attendance (but you will get that extra entry for attending if you are available). What’s in the grand prize? That is a secret, but we aren’t joking about the pizza part! Also, we will have drawings for special prizes to go in your yarn package at each of our book club meetings.

What happens at book club? We get together with our favorite beverage and talk about the book. We also talk about what we are making, what other books we are reading, ask for suggestions for projects to use our yarn with, get news about upcoming colorways and collections, and get to meet other people who enjoy books.

Each month we will get together on the third Thursday to discuss a book that features witches! Plus, we will have a yarn available each month that corresponds to that book. What could be better? Each book discussion will be held in a Zoom session (link is featured below) beginning at 7:30pm ET and lasts about an hour. Be sure to bring your tea (or other favorite beverage) and fiber work as we chat about our favorite characters.

Deadlines for the current month's yarn will be the 15th of each month. All orders placed after the 15th will be held until the following month. We are currently accepting orders for Cackle by Rachel Harrison.

Charmed: 4 ply DK 100% Superwash Merino, 100g, 231 yards

Alchemy: 2 ply Fingering (sock weight) 80% Superwash Merino/10%Cashmere/10% Nylon, 100g, 425 yards

Glamour: 2 ply Fingering (sock weight) 75% Superwash Merino/20% Nylon/5% Silver Stellina, 100g, 438 yards

Incantation: 4-ply fingering (sock weight ) 60% Merino, 20% Alpaca, and 20% Nylon, 437 yards for 100g

Sorcery: 4ply DK 80% Superwash Merino, 10% Cashmere/10% Nylon, 100g. 231 yds

Enchantment: 4 ply Worsted 100% Superwash Merino, 100g, 211 yards

Note: While the mill states that some bases are machine washable superwash yarn, this is a hand dyed product. The dye was completely exhausted and the water ran clear in the rinse process, however, some bleeding may occur with different detergents and water quality. We highly recommend hand washing using a wool safe wash such as Soak and drying flat or line drying.

Some of our photos may show more than one skein, the price listed is for only one skein.

All attempts are made to show our yarns in as close to their actual colors as possible. Colors may vary depending on monitors and lighting. Some yarns (such as those on Mohair) will come out muted and speckles will be more of a watercolor effect or have a sheen due to their fiber content.
